YORK PUBLIC SCHOOLS ADDS ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDING TO HIGH SPEED WIDE AREA NETWORK
Dark Fiber Solutions and the York Public Schools have again teamed together to improve the communication system of the York Public Schools. Prior to the recent network expansion, the York Public High School, Middle School, and Elementary School were all connected with a DFS provided fiber optic based high-bandwidth network while the Administration Building was left with a less reliable, lower bandwidth system.
Thanks to the cooperation of the DFS and York Public Schools staff, the DFS fiber optic based service has been expanded to include the Administration Building at York Public Schools.
The high-bandwidth connectivity provides the schools with a communication system that allows them to transfer files and share information between locations just as easily as if they were all in the same building. This communication system not only meets the school's current needs but also allows the York Public School system to have a network in place that is able to meet all of their future technological needs such as IP based video conferencing, Voice over IP services, IP based surveillance and much more.
York Public Schools Superintendent Mr. Terry Kenealy had this to say about the recent connectivity improvements, "Getting the Administration building connected through the DFS provided fiber optic network is something that we have wanted to do for some time now. I'm pleased that the opportunity presented itself this year to make that happen. With the opening of the new Middle School scheduled for early 2007 and the addition of the fiber optic service now in place throughout the District, the York Public School system is in the best position it's ever been in to provide the students, faculty and staff of York Public Schools with the tools and the learning environment they deserve."

Dixon, III added, "We are pleased to continue to expand our relationship with the York Public Schools and appreciate the opportunity to continue to improve the educational networks throughout the central and southeastern parts of Nebraska.
