DARK FIBER SOLUTIONS AWARDED CONTRACT TO PROVIDE WIRELESS VIDEO CONFERENCING SERVICES TO NATURAL BRIDGES NATIONAL MONUMENT
Dark Fiber Solutions has recently been awarded a contract to provide wireless video conferencing services to the Natural Bridges National Monument in Utah. The Wireless Video Conferencing Service provided by DFS will enable hundreds of south-central and southeast Nebraska students from over seventy schools to “visit” the Natural Bridges National Monument, without leaving their classrooms, through the use of technology. A mobile video conferencing cart at the Natural Bridges National Monument will be used by the Natural Bridges National Monument staff to conduct programs and provide educational opportunities for students through a “virtual fieldtrip” by utilizing the wireless network. The Natural Bridges staff will have the ability to move their mobile cart to numerous locations within the Natural Bridges National Monument Park to give “virtual tours” of the Natural Bridges National Monument.
A “Virtual fieldtrip” to Natural Bridges National Monument would provide students with an opportunity for tours of some of the finest examples of ancient stone architecture in the southwest including three natural bridges formed where meandering streams eroded the canyon walls. At 6,500 feet above sea level, Natural Bridges is home to a variety of plants and animals. Natural Bridges was established in 1908, making it the oldest National Park Service site in Utah.
Students will not only be able to “view” the Natural Bridges National Monument live, but will also be able to ask questions of the Natural Bridges staff through the interactive video conferences.
